PBIS
Positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) is a schoolwide systems approach aimed at establishing positive student culture and individualized behavior supports necessary to create a safe and effective learning environment for all students.
At Sunset Hills, we say "Seagulls Soar Together". Each letter in S.O.A.R. stands for one of our school-wide expectations as shown in the photo below. On Fridays, we have "Flight Lessons - Where Seagulls Learn to Soar!" We review what each expectations looks and sounds like at Sunset Hills.
Our students work to fill up Sunny Seagull with Seagull Snacks. Once he is full, our students earn a school-wide reward. Last year we had a dance party and a jump rope day.
PBIS is a wonderful program to build school culture and to personalize the behavior approach for our students.
