Welcome to Sunset Hills

I am incredibly excited and honored to join this wonderful school community. For those I have not yet had the opportunity to meet, my name is Joseph Prosapio, and I have spent the past 30 years in education serving students from TK through high school as both a special education teacher and an administrator. Throughout that time, I have learned one simple truth: schools are at their very best when students, families, and educators work together toward a common goal.
My personal and professional mission is: “To positively impact the trajectory of the families, teams, and communities I serve.” I am excited to begin that work alongside all of you.
If you get to know me, you will quickly learn that I believe deeply in the power of relationships. I believe every student deserves to feel seen, valued, and connected. I believe great schools combine high expectations with even higher levels of support. I believe that small, consistent improvements over time lead to extraordinary results. Most of all, I believe schools should be places filled with curiosity, kindness, laughter, and opportunities for every child to discover their unique strengths and potential.
My leadership style is collaborative, optimistic, and grounded in listening first. I enjoy asking questions, learning from others, and building strong teams because I know that the best ideas are rarely created by one person alone.
My wife, Susan, a VAPA teacher in the South Bay, and I have been married for 24 years. We have two grown children: Gabrielle, whom we call "Abbi," who is 25 and lives in Providence, Rhode Island, and Nathan, 24, who lives in Manitou Springs, Colorado. We are thoroughly enjoying this new "empty nester" chapter of life by staying active in our church, where we provide premarital mentoring and help develop leaders through workshops and classes. We also love spending time with friends and traveling whenever the opportunity arises.
As we begin this journey together, I look forward to getting to know each of you: your stories, traditions, hopes, and dreams for this school. I know there is already so much to celebrate here, and I am excited to learn what makes this community special while working alongside you to build an even brighter future for our students.
Thank you for welcoming me into your community. I cannot wait to get started.
See you soon!
Joe (Mr. P) Prosapio
